Ms. Melody Lin received a bachelor's degree in Developmental Psychology from CUNY School of Professional Studies. In 2017, Ms. Lin joined Morning Star Preschool as a head teacher. Since 2018, She has been a certified Teaching Assistant in New York State and is employed by the NYC Board of Education as a middle school paraprofessional.
Ms. Abby Xiao received a bachelor's degree in finance from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in China. She worked as a finance manager at TCL before moving to the United States in 2014. Currently, Ms. Abby is pursuing her second bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at Queens College. She holds a New York State Teaching Assistant certificate and is employed by a public school through the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County (Nassau BOCES). Passionate about teaching, she also tutors Mandarin online and makes learning Chinese fun through stories and songs.
Ms. Sylvia Sun has an associate degree in Interactive Art Design from Guangdong Women’s Polytechnic College. She toured with the world-renowned Red Poppy Ladies Percussion Group for nine years as a lead percussionist. Ms. Sylvia later founded an early childhood education center before moving to the U.S. in 2022. She joined Victory Life Chinese School as a Chinese language tutor in January 2023 and taught three percussion classes in our summer enrichment camp.
Ms. Lily Cheung has a bachelor's degree in Information Technology and a master's in Communication from Minnesota State University. She later earned an MBA from Hofstra University. Ms. Lily works full-time as a Lead Services & Product Management Analyst at Northwell Health. Fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, she came from a family of Mandarin teachers and has had fifteen years of teaching the language. Most notably, she pioneered a Mandarin class for FDNY and was featured in the media for her contribution.
Ms. Jin Liu has a bachelor's degree from Zhanjiang Normal College in Guangdong. Ms. Liu currently works as a human resources coordinator for the largest home care provider in the New York metropolitan area. Ms. Jin has provided private lessons in the Chinese language and is eager to apply her skills in a classroom setting.
Ms. Pebbles Chen (2018-2023) is our pioneering and founding teacher who helped lay the foundation of Victory Life Chinese School. She has a degree in journalism at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Prior to moving to the U.S. in 2014, Pebbles worked for the Guardian as a video editor. She holds a New York State Teaching Assistant certificate and currently works in an elementary school. After five years of teaching the Chinese language to young children, Pebbles started a YouTube channel Pebbles Chinese in 2020.
Ms. Joanna Wang (2019 - 2023) received a Master's in journalism from Fudan University in Shanghai. She later earned a Doctorate in Communication from East China Normal University. Ms. Joanna was a lecturer in the academic setting before moving to New York in 2015. She had worked full-time at The Viscardi Center, providing educational services to students with disabilities until the summer of 2023. Ms. Joanna accepted a position in the NYC Teaching Fellows program.
